Edition 3
8 March 2006 Welcome
Welcome to the latest
edition of Snippets. It has come to the ISEA's attention that a few
members may not have been receiving ISEA information now that we are on
line. As a result, we have double checked our membership lists against the
mailing lists and believe that we have now rectified the situation. We
hope that all our members are finding the website and associated emailed
updates useful and timely. However, we do apologise for any inconvenience
or delay in accessing information that may have resulted for any member.
Flexible Working Conditions.
Regional and State Office
Directors were recently sent information on the flexible working
conditions now afforded to CEOs. The ISEA understands that, in most
instances, CEOs have been provided with a copy of the these conditions
from their supervisor. CEOs should request this information from their
relevant director, if they have not received it to date. Alternatively
contact Ron Ikin at ron.ikin@iseansw.org.au
to request a copy of the conditions and associated flex sheet.

CEO Induction
On Monday 27 February
the DET, in conjunction with the ISEA, ran the first statewide induction
for Chief Education Officers. The day covered a range of areas of
importance to all newly appointed CEOs -- conditions, expectations and
responsibilities, performance management -- as well as some specific areas
of need for particular groups of CEOs. The day forms part of an ongoing
program of support for newly appointed and more firmly established CEOs.
At the end of the day, the ISEA executive hosted a welcome reception for
the group and presenters. Participants rated the day well and were
appreciative of the time taken by Directors, other presenters and the ISEA
executive to orient them to their new roles.
Retirement of Norm McCulla
ISEA president, Norman
McCulla will be retiring from the Department in April this year. Full
details available at

Congratulations
Congratulations to Sara
Thorley Smith, who was recently awarded the Public Service Medal in the
Australia Day lists for services to students' safety and well being. Sara
was formerly secretary of the ISEA.
CEO Positions
The ISEA is keen to hear of
changes in CEO positions. If you know of a CEO position in your
directorate or region that may have been recently established, filled,
disestablished, or vacated, could you please let the ISEA know by sending
an email to ron.ikin@iseansw.org.au
