BACKGROUND Since its inception in 1912, the prime objectives of the ISEA have been to represent and support its members and to work with NSW Department Of Education and Trainings to support and promote public schooling. The ISEA currently has members from a range of levels and positions within the NSW Department of Education and Training. The ISEA is an industrial organisation constituted, subject to the Industrial Relations Act 1996, to represent Chief Education Officers within the Department of Education and Training . The improvement and protection of industrial interests of its members is central to the work of the ISEA. This is largely achieved by
In addition to its industrial role the ISEA plays a major role in developing and promoting the professional interests of its members, An important feature of the ISEA is the collegiality and networking opportunities it affords and the role it plays in providing considered advice to the senior administration of the NSW Department of Education and Training. The Annual General Meeting is the supreme governing body of the ISEA, the decisions of this meeting are binding on the Executive and the State Council. The State Council is responsible for management and control of affairs of the Institute, subject to the decisions of the Annual General Meeting. The State Council will consist of the Executive Officers together with three elected ordinary members. The Executive consists of the four elected officers of the ISEA - President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and the Immediate Past President. They have the collective responsibility for the day to day management of the organisation. which is to be undertaken in a manner consistent with decisions of the Annual General Meeting and State Council. Their actions are guided by what is considered necessary to preserve and promote the rights and interests of members. |
